The day dawned perfect for the sixth round of the Alliman Shield 2015 at Bayview. Forty two divers and fourteen boats gathered on the beach on a rather mild winter’s morning and after the safety talk and the sign on the boats made their way up the channel into Pittwater and then out in the open ocean, although some hit the estuary first.
The water was a cold 13 degrees celsius at Bayview and around 17 in the ocean around the bend after Barrenjoey Point.
Back at the weigh in the divers gathered and the scales and teams formed to weigh in the fish. A pleasant day, a few beers and tales of the one that got away.
The weigh in teams got stuck into the scores (fuelled by beer!) and the weigh in was done in a timely manner.
Although no real exceptional fish were weighed in there were some like:
Congratulations to the Dolphins on another win and good on North Shore for coming in second in front of the Dragons, very well deserved!
The next competition is being held on the second Sunday in September (the first Sunday being Father’s Day) on the 13th September 2015. This is a great competition venue and will be keenly contested on the day.
