South Coast Fishing Bonanza

The Bonanza:
September 29th/30th October 1st
Based at Tomakin/Batemans Bay
Hosted by the Tomakin Fishing Club

The USFA was invited to run the Bonanza, the first-time spearfishing has been included in such an event, on behalf of the Tomakin Sports and Social Fishing Club. The USFA committee is really keen to become involved with this event to further promote safe and sustainable spearfishing in NSW. With everybody’s friend Paul Roso as Spearfishing Tournament Director and Oliver Wady running the scales as Weighmaster the weekend promises to be far from boring. The spearfishing Bonanza is held over two days and will be fished as a true pairs event of one up – one down, it is a rock-hopping event with locations given the evening before.

The attachment and website link gives great detail yet I will mention just a few things that are happening over this weekend: Dozens of Juniors are expected to enter, over 20 local high schools have been addressed personally and each junior will collect a goodie bag totaling some $150 worth of fishing gear, the USFA is providing a practical training day on the Friday for these Juniors showing basic duck diving, finning, and speargun safety as well as a quick discussion on ethics, of course;  There is a pairs event over the weekend that the winning Pair can claim to be the Pairs Champions of NSW; Prizes and trophies to place-getters (including a Family Pairs division), there are cash prizes for the largest fish of a species, and, for the second and third largest of the specie as well – see the website link below that is in Adam Martin’s, the Bonanza director, email invite tor more on prizes and the weekend.

It promises to be a great social weekend with the opportunity to meet many spearfishermen from along the State. Register now and book your accommodation. I hope to see you there.

From Adam Martin, Director of the South Coast Mighty Bonanza:
Good day USFA Members,

I am pleased to forward a warm invitation to all USFA members for our convention to be held September 29th,30th and October 1st.

I am of the hope that we can get very strong support of USFA members to the PAIRS STATE FINALS. Please help promote this event by putting it in every single spearo’s face! Time to set a new benchmark for the spearfishing community.

I have attached our South Coast Mighty Bonanza Fishing Competition brochure.

The website for the convention is www.scmb.com.au

There is also a dedicated Facebook page to keep everyone up to date which can be found by searching ‘South Coast Mighty Bonanza’ within Facebook.

Also, the fishing clubs Facebook page can be found by searching Tomakin Fishing Club within Facebook.

A retail prize pool of $80,000.00 is set for the event that can be reviewed at the website. The website is of modern design so when you select the PRIZE tab you will then have the option to choose the public, USFA, ANSA and miscellaneous prize lists. I think you will find it is impressive.

Several fishing celebrities will be attending for the sole purpose of promoting recreational fishing to children with the main celebrity attraction being Alistair McGlashan.

We guarantee that every registered junior (17 – 0 years old) will receive a competition bag of goodies from our Fishing tackle sponsors with a minimum retail value of $150 each. (We have 300 bags ready to go, 300 hundred juniors) – this includes spearo juniors.

The website also has a comprehensive list of accommodation that have boat parking if need be.

I encourage all to view the attached PDF brochure and visit the website. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me on 0418570131.

Sincerely,
Adam Martin
President of the Tomakin Fishing Club.
